Background Information:3rd Beijing International Forum on Citizenship Education for Children and Youths

  Beijing International Forum on Citizenship Education for Children and Youths is a biennial event
  
  presenting an excellent opportunity for researchers, educators and practitioners to exchange perspectives, views,
  
  innovations and best practices nationally and globally in addressing citizenship education for young learners
  
  in the diverse culture background (in terms of language, culture, ability/disability, gender, religion, rural-urban, socio-economic status) and contexts (conflict, crisis and emergency).
  
  
  
  
  Following the successful conduct of the 1st and 2nd Forum in 2006 and 2008, we are now preparing for the 3rd
  
  Beijing International Forum on Citizenship Education for Children and Youths.

  Call for papers
  
  Colleagues who are interested in participating in the forum will be requested to
  
  submit their papers.
  
  
  
  We welcome contributions in the following forms:
  
  ■ Academic papers based on research or scholarship;
  
  ■ Case studies of practice in schools, communities and formal and informal education settings;
  
  ■ Reports of projects;
  
  ■ Initiatives at local, regional, national or international levels.
  
  
  
  All papers will be placed within one of the four academic strands listed below. Please use these to guide the
  
  development of your submission, although the final decision as to which strand accepted papers will be placed
  
  in rests with the conference committee.
  
  ■ Citizenship Education Across the School Curriculum;
  
  ■ School-Family-Community Partnership for Promoting Effective Citizenship Education;
  
  ■ Role of NGOs for Promoting Citizenship Education;
  
  ■ Children?s Voice and Actions for Desirable Citizenship Education.
  
  
  
  
  Submitting a paper
  All papers will be peer reviewed, and contributors will be notified as quickly as possible of the outcome.
  
  All submissions will be peer reviewed. The peer review process has two stages, beginning with submission of a short abstract.
  
  Abstracts should be written in English, and should be around 1000 words in length.
  
  An abstract should summarize a full paper, drawing out the salient issues briefly and succinctly. It should include the following sections:
  
  
  ■ Context;
  
  ■ Research questions and/or aims;
  
  ■ Methodology;
  
  ■ Key findings;
  
  ■ Recommendations and/or implications.
  
  
  Selected abstracts will be used for the conference proceedings.
  
  Abstracts should be submitted by email to the forum secretariat at daijj@bjedu.gov.cn
  
  
  
  The deadline for receipt of abstracts is 31 August 2010.
  
  All abstracts will be reviewed by academic members of the conference committee and will be assigned to a thematic strand.
  
  Authors will be notified of the outcome of their abstract submission by 10 September 2010.
  
  Any colleague whose abstract is accepted will be expected to submit a final version of their full paper by 10 October 2010.
  
  The full paper should be between 4000 and 7000 words in length. All conference papers will be published in a conference
  
  CD available to all participants.

  Working Language
  
  The languages of the conference will be English and Mandarin Chinese.
  Plenary sessions (including keynote lectures) will be translated simultaneously.
  
  All other sessions will have consecutive interpretation, so presenters are asked to bear that in mind when planning their sessions.
