Honghu NO.1 Primary School

Honghu NO.1 Primary School is a public school with a glorious history of sixty years. The school is next to the Lotus Square of Honghu City, and Neijin River twists and turns by one side of the school with beautiful waves. The school has held the excellent and special strategy of being the first-class school for several years. The ultimate goal of this school focuses on “Establish an education system with characteristics, and build a primary school with strengths”.

The area of the school is 9300 square metres. The educational condition of it is undoubtful. Teaching building, office building and multi-media teaching building stand erectly in the school. It has more than 10 meticulously-designed professional classrooms like multi-function classroom, computer room and reading room and so on. The level of modern education facilities is first-class in Honghu City.

There are 31 classes with more than 2100 students and 108 teaching staff. The school has 1 National Excellent Teacher, 16 Provincial Excellent Teachers and 28 Excellent Teachers of Honghu City.

In 2006, the poem subject of the school “Improve the humanistic quality of pupils by poem education” is adopted as the focus research program of 11th Five-Year Plan of Hubei Province. The subject “Make full use of local textbooks to research the pupils on a sustainable development base” is projected in the nation. In the autumn of 2007, we integrate the two subjects into one―Education on a Sustainable Development Base. During the process of researching, leaders of the province and nation successively came to the school to visit, report and guide the educational activities. Doctor Liu Herong, the Director of Curriculum Reform Office of Hubei Teaching and Research, writes the preface of the school’s poem education textbook―An Intensive Reading of China’s Poems. Experts from China, Japan and Korea will come to visit the school by December of this year. Now the scientific research of the school’s education is about to become series, and the environmentally characterized education is preliminarily formed.
