Beijing Academy of Educational Sciences

As a largest education research institution in China, BAES boasts 16 institutes and centers engaged in educational research ranging from early childhood education, pedagogic innovation, curriculum and textbook development, vocational and technical education, lifelong learning, private education, education for sustainable development and learning difficulties, etc. Its main tasks are to provide consultative service for government administration and to serve schools? management and pedagogic improvement. 

BAES publishes several journals including Educational Sciences Research and Classroom Teachers which are quite popular across the country. Besides, it publishes Beijing Education Series, Beijing Education Almanac, Beijing Educational Science Research Series.

In recent years, great efforts have been made to accumulate and disseminate education resources through the Internet. It has been designated as a national pilot base for educational resources for basic education. 

Ten Associations at national and municipal level are affiliated to BAES including National Private Education Association Society, National General Educational Evaluation Council, China Cooperative Education Association, China Vocational Education Management Research Council and National Working Committee for Education for Environment, Population and Sustainable Development.

BAES has undertaken 71 ?Tenth-Five? projects (including 2 national key education projects out of total 3 in the country; 16 MOE key projects). es for outstanding performance. It has undertaken a number of multilateral projects in cooperation with international agencies, including ?Research Project on Compulsory Education Development in China? (DFID), ?Education for Environment, Population and Sustainable Development (EPD)? (UNESCO), ?Research of Basic Education Development in China? (World Bank), ?Teacher Training of Child-Friendly School? (UNICEF), ?Basic Education for Rural-Urban Migrants? Children? (UNESCO), ?Non-formal Learning for Rural Community Development?(UNESCO), ?Cooperative Project on Lifelong Learning? (EC), etc. 

BAES has successfully held some major international and national conference and workshops. Regular programmes have been maintained with counterparts in Russia, Canada, US, UK, Germany, Switzerland, France, Japan, etc. Each year BAES researchers take part in international conferences and study visits on the different educational development areas in other countries.
